Has anyone implemented linux based HA systems as mentioned above?
If so, how is it? Fairly easy to setup? Reliability? etc ...

We got a generic box with postgres database system running on vanilla rh7.2 and want some kind of redundency in case that box shit itself, I hope not though :D. I should be able to get another box and want to know what options are there and want to hear your experiences!

TiA.

From memory RedHat has seperate HA/Clustering products -

RedHat Advanced Server (used to be called RedHat High Availability Server)
RedHat Pensacola Beta (an RH 7.2-based distribution designed specifically for HA/Clustering/Load Balancing)

If http://ha.redhat.com still exists it would be a good place to start.
