I wish to try debian linux but the machine does not have a DVD player. I have copied all the files onto a hard drive and tried to runn the boot.bat file in the \install directory but comes up the following error "

'"Uncompressing linux... invalid compressed format (err1) --system halted""

Can I run installation from HDD or not?

Thanks

This might be possible, but you would have to boot off a linux boot disk (floppy) and then manual execute the installation command (which off the top of my head I can't remember exactly what it is).
