 Post subject: red hat login

hi, this is my first post. anyways, i just installed red hat 8 on a second hard drive, and i don't remember it assigning a login name but i did put in a pw and remember it, so my question is, how can i retrieve my login or is there a generic login? sorry if this is a really dumb question!

You probably entered a password for the root account (the administrator).

If you have a black screen with white text asking you to login: then the username is
root
and the password is whatever you chose.

You shouldn't normally log on as root. you should add a new user as soon as possible. Only log on as root when absolutely necessary.
